PINE GROVE — It wasn’t time for tea, it was time for tee.
The high school golf season “teed off” on Tuesday with the Ironton Invitational held at the Ironton Country Club.
The Wheelersburg Pirates edged the Coal Grove Hornets by two shots to win the tournament, 327 to 329.
The Fairland Dragons were third at 336 followed by the Chesapeake Panthers at 377, the Ironton Fighting Tigers 381, St. Joseph Flyers 397 and Portsmouth Trojans 444.
Fairand’s Landon Roberts took medalist honors with a round of 71. Brady Gill of Wheelersburg shot a 74, Hunter Freeman of Ironton was third at 77, Eli Ford of St. Joseph fired a 78 and Coal Grove’s Mason Frasure was just one shot back at 79 to round out the top five.
