Pointers get first win over Spartans

ALBANY — Blaine Freeman might think about being a mail carrier for a profession.

The South Point Pointers’ senior running back “carried the mail” 33 times for 212 yards and scored 3 touchdowns in a 27-14 win over the Alexander Spartans on Saturday night.

South Point’s other touchdown was a 29-yard punt return by Elijah Wilburn.

Pointers’ quarterback Xathan Haney was 5-of-8 passing for 41 yards. Running back Gage Chapman ran 7 times for 16 yards and Haney 3 carries for 3 yards.

Davin Heckard had one catch for 16 yards.

Kam Miller had an interception, Chapman 5 solo tackles including one for a loss and Wilburn had 4 solo stops to pace the defense.
