Preview of Indoor Football League Semis

Quad City Steamwheelers (11-7) @ Frisco Fighters (16-2), Friday July 29, 7:05 PM CT

Following their convincing win over the Iowa Barnstormers in first round of the IFL Playoffs, the top-seeded Frisco Fighters host the Quad City Steamwheelers Friday night at Comerica Center in Frisco for the Eastern Conference Final.

This game will mark the third matchup between the Fighters and Steamwheelers in the 2022 IFL season.

The Steamwheelers are coming off a Round one overtime win against the reigning champions, the Massachusetts Pirates.

The last meeting between these two teams, on July 9th, was an instant classic. Quad City took a 30-20 lead into the fourth quarter, but the Fighters were able to hit a 21-yard field goal by Bryce Crawford with under a minute in regulation to send the game into overtime.

In overtime, EJ Hilliard would give the Steamwheelers a 44-37 lead with a touchdown toss to Londell Lee on their first possession.

Frisco responded with a touchdown pass from Blake Sims to Tyron Laughinghouse to even the score.

In the second frame of the overtime period, Frisco scored on a 1-yard plunge by Sims and the defense made a fourth down stop giving them the 50-44 win.

Northern Arizona Wranglers (14-4) @ Arizona Rattlers (15-3), Saturday 8:05 PM CT

The top seed in the Western Conference, Arizona Rattlers will face the Northern Arizona Wranglers on Saturday for a spot in the IFL National Championship Game.

The Rattlers are seeking their seventh title in their franchises history.

This game will feature Arizona and the league's top offense against the league's best defense in Northern Arizona.

Both teams split the regular season series as the Wranglers pulled off the win on their home turf 37-34. The Rattlers got revenge in the second meeting with a 40-28 win in Phoenix.

All eyes will be on Rattlers quarterback Drew Powell. In the two regular season meetings, Powell racked up 120 yards rushing and four touchdowns against the Wranglers.

Another key player for the Rattlers will be Jamal Miles. The running back/wide receiver made his mark as a pass catcher in the earlier match ups, hauling in seven passes for 97 yards and two touchdowns throughout both games.

Northern Arizona will rely not only on their defense, but also their quarterback Kaleb Barker. The signal caller for the Wranglers was responsible for 68 yards rushing and 104 yards passing in last weeks playoff win against Tucson.
