Raiders beat Patriots in wild fashion

LAS VEGAS — In one of the most bizarre endings, Las Vegas avoided overtime by pulling off a last-second win over the New England Patriots 30-24 on Sunday. Only thing is before the final play, nobody in the stadium — including the Raiders — didn't expect the outcome that played out.

On the final play of regulation, Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson took the handoff and found running room against a prevent defense for a 23-yard gain. He then went unexpectedly lateraled the ball back to teammate Jakobi Meyers. The wide receiver then tried to keep the play alive with a backwards pass across the field to Mac Jones.

Only problem is Meyers threw it directly into the hands of Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Chandler Jones.

Jones grabbed ball of the air at the New England 48, stiff-armed Jones onto his back and went the distance for a touchdown to give the Raiders a miracle win.

Stevenson had a huge day, as he had 19 carries for 172 yards, including a 34-yard touchdown with 3:43 left in the ball game and what many people felt was the knock out blow.

But Derick Carr led the Raiders down the field, converting a key fourth-and-10 from the Las Vegas 19-yard line with a 12-yard completion to Mack Hollins. Then later in the drive, later hit Keelan Cole in the left corner of the end zone for a 30-yard touchdown with 32 seconds left to tie the game at 24 and set the stage for the wild ending.

The final play seemingly bailed out the Raiders (6-8), who blew a 17-3 at halftime. But in a strange turn of events, it's now the Patriots who may have blown their playoff hopes.

The Patriots (7-7), who came into the game winners of five of their last six games, fell one game out of the final AFC playoff spot. Now New England must face three teams, in the final weeks, who have either clinched or are in position for the postseason.
