PROCTORVILLE — The Huntington St. Joseph Lady Irish used a big first quarter to grab a 18-point lead and went on to beat the Rock Hill Redwomen 61-46 on Saturday in the Tri-State Hoops Throwdown at Fairland High School.
The Lady Irish jumped in front 22-4 in the first quarter as Lacee Smith hit five 3-point goals.
Rock Hill (4-8) could only manage a 3-pointer by Abby Schug and a free throw by Emma Scott.
The Redwomen nudged a little closer in the second quarter as Hope Easterling scored 7 points and J’lynn Risner 3 to get within 28-14 at the half.
Ava Gallion hit a 3-pointer and had a free throw for the Lady Irish (9-3).
St. Joseph was able to extend the lead to 47-30 as Mariah Johnson drilled three 3-pointers and Gallion scored 8 points.
Emma Scott knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and scored 8 points and Schug hit another trey for the Redwomen.
Easterling scored 6 points, Risner 4 and both Scott and Schug hit 3-pointers as Rock Hill outscored St. Joseph 16-14 in the fourth quarter.
Gallion had 7 points and Smith hit a trey for the Lady Irish.
Easterling scored 16 points and Scott 12 to pace Rock Hill.
Gallion had a game-high 22 points, Smith scored 18 on six 3-pointers and Johnson added 11 for the Lady Irish.
