PORTSMOUTH — If the Portsmouth Lady Trojans had a hangover following Monday’s win over Fairland, it didn’t last long.
The Lady Trojans were in a tight game early but took off in the second quarter and never stopped in a 76-38 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Rock Hill Redwomen on Thursday.
The Lady Trojans led just 19-16 after the first quarter thanks to Daysha Reid who hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 10 points.
Hope Easterling had 6 points, J’lynn Risner 4 and both Emma Scott and Abby Schug nailed 3-pointers to keep Rock Hill close.
But Portsmouth (11-1, 8-0) stepped up its game in the second quarter and outscored Rock Hill 23-6 to build a 42-22 halftime cushion.
Reid hit another 3-pointer and scored 7 points, Sienna Allen had a trey and scored 5 points, Emily Cheatham had 4 points and Savannah Ankrom hit a 3-pointer for Portsmouth.
Risner scored all 6 of Rock Hill’s points in the quarter.
Portsmouth extended the lead to 55- 33 in the third quarter by outscoring Rock Hill 13-11.
Hayven Carter took over in the quarter with a 3-pointer as she scored 8 points while Allen added 4 points.
Risner was 7-of 10 from the foul line and Easterling had 4 more points for the Redwomen.
Reid hit pair of 3-pointers before exiting the game.
Easterling had 4 of Rock Hill’s 5 points in the quarter.
Rock Hill (4-10, 1-7) was led by Risner with 17 points followed closely by Easterling with 14 points.
Portsmouth had 3 players in double digits as Reid scored 23 points followed by Carter with 16 and Reid had 15.
