PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth Lady Trojans had plenty of offensive moments on Monday, but it was the defense that was the key.
Portsmouth held Ironton to single-digit scoring in 3 quarters and came away with a 60-25 Ohio Valley Conference win.
Sienna Allen had 6 points and Daysha Reid hit a 3-pointer as Portsmouth took a 15-5 first quarter lead.
Emerson White hit a trifecta and had all of Ironton’s points in the quarter.
Reid hit a trey and scored 8 points, Allen had 6 more points and Savannah Cantrell scored 4 points in the second quarter as the Lady Trojans went up 37-10 at the half.
White hit another 3-pointer and Lexi McCall had a basket for Ironton.
Portsmouth put the game away in the third quarter as Reid scored 7 points including a 3-pointer with Keke Woods adding 4 points and the lead was 52-21.
The 3-pointer by Reid gave her 1,000 career points.
White and Peyton Deer hit 3-pointers for Ironton.
Portsmouth (16-2, 12-0) was led by Reid with 18 points with Allen scoring 12 and Woods 10
Ironton (4-15, 2-10) was led by White who provided most of the offense with 15 points that included four 3-pointers.
