SOUTH WEBSTER — One team had most of its players back. One team had no starters back. Guess which team won.
The South Webster Jeeps veteran lineup rolled past the young Green Bobcats 77-42 in a non-league season opener on Tuesday.
Eli Roberts scored 21 points to lead 4 players in double figures. Tyler Sommer had 16 points while Owen Mault and Jack Timothy scored 13 each.
Jon Knapp led the Bobcats with a game-high 25 points.
Four different players scored as the Jeeps took a 16-8 first quarter lead.
Knapp hit a trey and scored 5 points for Green.
Roberts scored 10. Points and Dylan Shupert hit a 3-pointer and scored 5 points as the lead ballooned to 40-18 at the half.
Mault had 7 points including a trey and Roberts had 6 more points as South Webster increased the lead to 59-32 after three quarters.
Knapp drained a pair of 3-pointers and scored 12 if Green’s 14 points in the quarter.
Green will host Rock Hill on Friday.
