Salyer, Lady Dragons get key OVC victory over Ironton

PROCTOVILLE — Kaylee Salyer showed why she is a Western Michigan recruit.


The Fairland senior pitcher hurled a 3-hitter with 11 strikeouts and one walk as the Lady Dragons downed the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers 11-1 in six innings on Friday in the Ohio Valley Conference opener for both teams.


Fairland (3-1, 1-0) had 11 hits led by Jordan Spencer who went 3-for-4 with a triple and a home run and she drove in 4 runs.


Katie Dehart was 2-3 with an RBI as 8 different players had hits for Fairland.


Khamil Martin was 1-2 with a first inning solo home run to account for the Ironton scoring. Graycie Brammer and Emily Weber each went 1-3.
