FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — An MRI on Tuesday morning, confirmed that New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers tore his left Achilles tendon during Monday night's win over the Buffalo Bills, according to sources.
Rodgers season came to an end on just the fourth play of the game. He went down after trying to spin out of a sack by Bills defensive end Leonard Floyd. His left foot appeared to get caught in the turf and his body twisted. Rodgers had strained the very same left calf during OTAs this past offseason.
The Jets will now turn to backup Zach Wilson to be their starter. They also have journeyman Tim Boyle, who is currently on the teams' practice squad.
The 39-year old quarterback's injury will also impact the 2024 draft. The second-round pick that goes to the Green Bay Packers from the Rodgers trade would have become a first-round pick if Rodgers played 65% of the Jets' snaps this season.
