WILLOW WOOD — Mason Stevenson struck out 10 batters and went 2-4 at the plate, as the Symmes Valley Vikings picked up a Southern Ohio Conference win over the Eastern Eagles 11-3 on Thursday.
Stevenson gave up just 4 hits, an earned run, and walked just 3 batters in 5 innings of work. The Vikings (10-6, 8-1) got solid performances from their relievers. Zayne Wilson gave up a run and struck out two in the 6th inning, and Zander Hurn came on pitched a scoreless 7th inning with a strikeout.
The Vikings blew the game wide open in the bottom of the 4th, scoring six runs to take an 11-1 lead.
All three pitchers helped themselves out at the plate too. Stevenson went 2-4, Hurn had a double and 3-RBIs, and Wilson added and RBI as well.
Symmes Valley also got doubles from Will Jones and Tanner Thompson.
Luke Niece went 1-2, Tanner Corn was 1-3 with 2-RBIs, Randy Adkins was 1-3, and Gradee Holland was 2-3.
Haislop and Morton had both RBIs for Eastern.
The Vikings will be at home on Monday, April 24 against Oak Hill.
