BOONE, N.C. — The Marshall University men's basketball team (19-5, 8-3 Sun Belt) completed a season sweep of the App State Mountaineers (13-11, 6-5 Sun Belt) on Thursday night with a 66-58 win in Boone, North Carolina.

"If you can win against a team that won six of its last eight games, it's a good win," Herd men's basketball head coach Dan D'Antoni said.

After leading for nearly the first 24 minutes of the contest, Marshall relinquished the lead to App State, 35-33, after an 8-0 Mountaineer run at the 15:28 mark in the second half. However, Taevion Kinsey tied it with a layup, two of his 15 points. Wyatt Fricks and Kamdyn Curfman capped off the 11-0 run with back-to-back threes as the Herd led 44-35 three minutes later.

"I thought we controlled the game pretty well tonight," Kinsey said. "They were physical. It was a physical battle."

Andrew Taylor recorded a layup with just over five minutes left in the contest to give MU it largest lead of the contest at 10 points, 58-48. Taylor registered a game-high 21 points and seven assists in the game. The native of Corbin, Kentucky, hit three of his five attempts from beyond the arc.

"It's a good road win," Taylor said. "Any time you play a team the second time it's going to be harder.

Micah Handlogten logged a game-high 11 rebounds and team-high two blocks.
