Titans hire Bengals OC Callahan as new head coach

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Titans agreed on Monday to hire Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan as their head coach, according to a person familiar with the decision.

Sources told the media on condition of anonymity because the deal had not been finalized.

Callahan, 39, will replace Mike Vrabel, who was fired on Jan. 9 after six seasons at the helm. The Titans interviewed Callahan virtually on Jan. 12 and in-person on Monday.

The NFL prohibits in-person interviews of current league employees until the end of the divisional round of the playoffs which concluded on Sunday.

Callahan, who served as the Bengals' offensive coordinator since 2019, has 14 years of experience in the NFL.

He becomes the third coach hired this month. New England replaced Bill Belichick by promoting Jerod Mayo and Las Vegas elevated interim coach Antonio Pierce to the position full-time.

Callahan has been a popular target in many recent head coaching searches, which includes interviewing for the Los Angeles Chargers job earlier this month.

Callahan is the son of former Raiders coach Bill Callahan.
