COAL GROVE — Braylin Wallace was on top of her game which put the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers on top of the scoreboard.
Wallace pitched a 3-hitter with 12 strikeouts and a walk as the Lady Fighting Tigers blanked the Coal Grove Lady Hornets 5-0 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Monday.
Ironton (9-4, 4-1) wasted little time scoring with 2 runs in the first inning.
Graycie Brammer started the game with a single, Khamil Martin doubled and Aubrey Ferguson singled them home.
The Lady Fighting Tigers got a run in the second when Katelyn Williams got a 2-out double and scored on a hit by Brammer.
Ironton added a pair of insurance runs in the fifth inning.
Martin doubled, stole third and scored on a sacrifice fly by Ferguson. Neal then followed with a line drive home run to left field on an 0-1 pitch to cap Ironton’s fourth straight win.
Shay Collins, Kendall Taylor and Kasey Vanderhoof all went 1-3 for Coal Grove (5-6, 3-1).
Abbie Deeds pitched well in taking the loss as she gave up 10 hits, 5 earned runs with12 strikeouts and no walks.
